Through reckless, risk, taking, and dumb luck, I have managed to ride wave after wave of this roller coaster called the technology industry. I have had the good fortune to wear many techno-hats: from developer to Chief Architect, from Professional Services Manager to Director of Applications Development. Mostly I have earned a living as a top-gun consultant, running just as fast as I can to keep up with the young-turks on the latest technologies and the business gurus on emerging macro trends.
Throughout my technology career, I have been an avid (my wife would say obsessed) student business and the business use of emerging technologies. I consider myself a bona fide geek, even though I rarely geeked just for the hell of it. I was always more interested in how technology could solve real world problems and in connecting the dots between business, technology, economics and pop culture.
A few years ago, Debbie and I started the B2Bdepot, Inc, with the vision of creating a boutique internet consultancy that focused primarily, but not exclusively, on architecture. Why architecture? Because architecture appeared to encompass so many of our professional interests and passions: branding, software development and all the eBilities (scaleability, availability, reusability, etc.) Despite the bottom falling out on the market (ouch), we have had a blast and manage to make a few bucks at the same time.
I am looking forward with anticipation to catching the next wave. It is coming just as surely as night follows day. See ‘ya on the beach!
